Sun Cycle

As the world shifted on its axis, so has our orbit.

Under the nourishing aura of Melbourne’s sun, we look to an all domestic lineup to nurture an industry suffering and equally prove its quality and cultural impact. Produced by the respected minds behind Crown Ruler and WAT Artists, the carefully curated lineup is a statement of how positively intertwined Melbourne’s music community is. It is reflective of inclusivity without compromising on quality. Sun Cycle will transform the iconic Sidney Myer Music Bowl into an imaginative space for freedom in dance and interaction. A space carved out for people to be themselves; where they can find confidence and community to dream big and inspire each other.

In a transformed world, your health and safety continues to be a priority as we impose new strategies to enhance your experience while maintaining social distancing and health practices. We will dance dance dance into the evening as Sidney Myer Music Bowl’s new COVID-19 safe look take’s shape. We remain hopeful that we’ll see further regulations eased before January 30th. However we have considered various formats to ensure a safe and enjoyable event no matter what the circumstance.

~ Message In The Music ~

The messages of equality and sustainability will be a common-thread through not only our lineup but the environment we come together in. While we cherish the exchanges we have with our global music community, the constraints of COVID-19 force us to look inward and appreciate how the world has already influenced our own unique identity. We celebrate a city made up of migrants, and whose art reflects that. A year that also highlighted the enduring struggle for First Nations and BIPOC people, Sun Cycle will also be a statement against racism. We dance on land that was forcibly taken from Aboriginal people. There has been no Treaty with the First Nations of this country and the effects of colonisation continue to this day. Furthermore, we reflect on a year where sacred and historical land has felt the consequences of careless consumption and unsustainable practice, ravaged by unprecedented bushfires and corporate led destruction. We will mark the day with a significant Welcome To Country, a moment we encourage all of our patrons to engage with and reflect on.

From the infamous and those bubbling within, to contemporary icons who engage and inspire audiences the world over, perhaps never so proudly will we enjoy their talent in this time of reflection and reevaluation. Lock in your tickets and enjoy a jubilant and heartening day under the summer sun.
