Looking for somewhere to wine and dine before and after this Live at the Bowl concert? In the spirit of two of Melbourne’s favourite home grown acts, enjoy a day at some of our city’s most iconic spots.
To become a local icon you need to champion quality and originality. Just as our favourite music venues introduce us to some of our new favourite artists, so our best restaurants and bars kick-start our passion for our new favourite flavours.
With a double bill as dynamic as this, you’re going to need all the energy you can muster. Whether for fuel or replenishment, head to Chinatown for baskets of the legendary Shanghai xiao long bao from HuTong Dumpling Bar or China Red, or customise your own hot pot at Mrs Zan’s Kitchen.
Once you’ve had your fill (if that’s possible!), wander around the corner for a tipple at Good Heavens. If there’s anything more quintessentially Melbourne than a laneway, it’s a rooftop bar, and this is one of the city’s best.
For a slightly different, though no less iconic take, slip into the absolute Melbourne classic that is MoVida, take a perch at the bar or a seat in the dining room, and work your way through Frank Camorra’s incredible menu.
Between MoVida and the Sidney Myer Music Bowl (via a short dogleg), Ponyfish Island is a haven for wonderers and wanderers. Not only has this city stalwart been redesigned with a nod to Palm Springs, it’s also serving half-price spritzes to Live at the Bowl ticketholders. Sip on an Elderbloom, Euro, Aperol or Superdry Spritz and see if you can spot the (probably mythical) Ponyfish in the Yarra River. The perfect pre and post gig spot.
With the last riffs of the first Happy Mondays show ringing in your ears, you might be inspired to take to the stage. But practice makes perfect, and Stars KTV and Lounge and KBox Karaoke are open into the night for you to rehearse your swagger and hit those high notes in-front of a smaller (and kinder) audience.
Happy Mondays is a celebration of what Melbourne does best: live music. Every Monday night in February, two iconic music venues unite to curate a gig at the Bowl. The month-long series channels the spirit of a classic pub residency with some of the best local acts.
